Scandinavian design, inspired by the Nordic simplicity.

Our inspiration comes from the beauty of forests, mountains, valleys, rivers, more than 500,000 islands and, of course, water – not to mention the unique Nordic light, when in large parts of the region, the sun barely sets during the summer.

The name Ask, which means ash tree in English, comes from Old Norse and is also the name of the first man in Norse mythology.

According to Norse mythology, Ask and Embla (first woman) were the first humans. They were created by the gods Odin, Vili and Vé (or, according to another tradition, Hœnir and Lóðurr) from two tree trunks – an ash and an elm – which the gods found by the sea.

Odin gave them spirit and life, Vili gave them understanding and the ability to move, while Vé gave them appearance, speech, hearing and sight.

Ask and Embla were then given Midgard as their home, and all of humanity is said to descend from them.
